New Camera, Dog Photos & Filming

So I mentioned in a previous post that I was going to start making videos and creating a YouTube account, well I have taken quite possibly the biggest step forwards in doing this. It is something I have always wanted to do so this year is the year. Today I gave myself a Valentines treat (and after a rough week) and bought a Canon DSLR, I will create a post/video on everything about it so stay tuned for that.

Today has been about messing around with the camera, and I did do a little video of me doing my mums make up which I will edit and post tomorrow (hopefully) so, again, stay tuned for that!

Having three beautiful dogs, I always take photos of them anyway so obviously the first thing I did was starting snapping photos of them. Here is one of my little Ozzy…..

IMATS 2015!!!!!!!!

Hey Lovelies,

Being beauty freaks like myself, I am sure that you have heard of IMATS. For those you aren’t familiar, it is the international make-up trade show which I believe is held once a year in London, Sydney, Toronto, LA, New York and Vancouver. It allows brands to promote themselves and their products within the beauty industry. It’s a great place for make up artists and make up lovers alike to go, check out the brands and grab some great products.

I have never been to IMATS, but would love to go this year. I would love the idea of setting up a meet with fellow bloggers from in UK as I would be attending the London show! Has anyone ever been? Are you going?

The Ultimate Dark Nude | Soap&Glory Super-Colour Fabu Lipstick Review

Recently I have been on a lipstick frenzy. I haven’t been much of a lipstick person, I feel like its a high maintenance aspect of your make up look. That being said, popping on a bit of lipstick can take your make up to the next level, which is something I would obviously want to do. Being one of my favourite body product brands I thought they would be a good place to check out some lipsticks. After perusing the stand for a while, I went for the Soap&Glory Super-Colour Fabu Lipstick in Naked Beige.

— The Colour —

This colour is stunning, its brown with a redish undertone which makes it absolutely gorgeous on any skin colour and goes with every makeup look! It glides on smoothly, doesn’t dry or crumble either.

— It’s Wear Time —

Now, I seem to have an issue with all lipsticks, in that they never seem to wear very well, and although this doesn’t last all day it lasts better than others. I think this colour looks great on its own, it doesn’t require high maintenance as its a dark shade of lip colour. You can swipe this on before school or work and not worry about touch ups, when it does fade it slowly reveals your natural lip colour through without being obvious. If you’re the type who wants to look like you’re wearing lipstick, then by all means you may have to reapply, but the beauty of this lipstick is that you don’t have to. You might think that £9 is a little steep for drug store lippy, but you wont be disappointed. If you have ever tried one of S&G’s products, you will know they make good stuff!

You can wear this colour in the office, at home, for a night out and on a date. It’s sophisticated and yet youthful at the same time. You can wear this with a dramatic eye or keep it really clean and simple with just a few swipes of mascara.

— The Packaging —

I have always loved S&G’s packaging, its iconic and to be honest a bit of a show stopper. I love the 40’s/50’s era and (correct me if I am wrong) but I believe that’s what they’re packaging is inspired by. Its got that retro yet girly feel that really appeals to me, and its clearly working for them. This lipstick is a little more on the cleaner side, I guess when you’re trying to keep the price down their isn’t too much space you can use to create an elaborate design. The design isn’t quite the eye catching S&G packaging that I am used to, but it’s pretty and sleek.

I often find that when I chuck a lipstick in my bag, the lid comes off and bye bye lipstick… and the inside of my bag. The packaging of this lipstick is quite sturdy and seems to be holding on well.

The down side with this lipstick is that when you do apply it, although it goes on smoothly, its quite thick and I feel really concious that I am wearing lipstick.

I would recommend this colour and lipstick in general 🙂

It’s Prime Time | W7 Prime Magic Camera Ready Primer

Everyday I will prime, no matter how much make up I apply. It is as an essential part of my beauty routine as moisturising.  I have naturally oily skin, so therefore I take every step I can to prevent my face looking like an oily mess within in a few hours of wearing make up. Honestly, some days my skin looks so oily I wonder if I could actually fry chips on it. Nasty image I know but its true! I’ve tried a bunch of primers, high end to more affordable and the ones I tend to reach for on a daily basis are the W7 Prime Magic primers. IMG_5580 I always buy my W7 make up products (I have one of their palettes – which is also very good) on Amazon here

IMG_5570 (2)

The Original

The original primer was my first purchase and over the years I may have repurchased this beauty around five times. It doesn’t dry out my skin, it leaves my skin feeling silky and allows my foundation to glide on smoothly. It does hold my foundation into place really well but I am sure there are primers out there that do a better job. It is an amazing product for the price, but take note, ‘for the price’. It’s a very cheap product so I don’t ever expect miracles. I think its worth more than its price but I wouldn’t be willing to pay more than £10 for this individually. If you’re in the market for a cheaper primer or something you can use on an everyday basis because its more affordable, than you should give this a try. If you have a look on Amazon, this product has 4 1/5 stars from 709 reviews, which is pretty outstanding. It isn’t fantastic at shrinking pores, but it doesn’t make them look bigger, which some primers have done!!

This primer is supposed to combat anti-dull skin, which I get from time to time. Skin that doesn’t have that beautiful, youthful glow which everyone and their mother is dying to have. I can’t say I have noticed a massive difference when I use this primer, but it does help a little. Don’t freak out over the colour, it blends in so well that you don’t get a purple residual left over. I also haven’t noticed it altering the colour of my foundation either, so prime away! I would suggest that this isn’t as good as Benefits That Gal, but then its a lot lot cheaper!

This primer really surprised me, it does exactly what it says on the label. I suffer from a little redness around my nose, and acne scarring so can leave my skin looking a little redder than I would prefer. On good days, I will use the original primer, but I am on the tail end of a break out then I opt for the anti-redness primer. Again, this doesn’t change the colour of your foundation so don’t worry about that.

I would have to say overall, that these are pretty good primers, I would even pay a little more money to purchase the original and the anti-redness. For best results, let these primers sink into your skin after application for about five-ten minutes and then apply your foundation.

If you have ever tried one of these primers, or any of the W7 let me know what you think.

Favourite Youtubers!!!

Since I was about 13 years old I started to watch Elle (allthatglitters21) and Blair (juicystar07) Fowler, beauty blogging and youtubing sisters who have rocketed to fame. They’ve been shortly followed by many others… and these are my favourites.

Casey Holmes is seriously one of the most beautiful girls I have ever seen and possibility one of the most talented eye shadow blenders ever! She specialises in smoky eyes and has taught me so so much!

Gossmakeupartist, or Wayne, is a ultra talented and hilariously honest make up artist. If you want to know what you’re spending your money on is worth the hype, then check out Wayne’s channel, his honesty is so refreshing. It also strips things bare and goes right back to basics when it comes to giving make up tips.

She’s stunning and down to earth. What more is there to say, she has a clean and classic style that’s easy to recreate and great for the girls who like to keep it simple.

I found Sona by watching a video of her doing Teni’s makeup for a ‘bridal look’ – which had me astounded. Teni looks beautiful whenever, but the make up that Sona did was flawless. She has continued to wow me with gorgeous looks.

I feel if I knew Ingrid personally we would be best friends. She is fun and energetic whilst always maintaining a youthful look. Her no fuss looks are great for beginners.

I watch Lauren’s videos when I want a more dramatic look, she is undeniably stunning and really knows how to emphasise her assets. If you want to know how to master the flawless canvas then check her channel out now!!!

A fellow brit and makeup lover like myself, Fleur has great style and great make up tips too!

Tati has been around for a while yet I have only just stumbled across her videos – she really goes into depth with her tutorials you really feel as though she is helping you every step of the way.

I would have to say Carli may steal the spotlight for my favourite youtuber! She is stunning, kind and caring. Her videos are varied, helpful and refreshing. She has great style and posts fashion tips too!

Go and check out these channels – you could learn soooo much! Do you like these youtubers? Are there any others?

Make up Collection Part 2 | Nail Varnish

I mentioned in a previous post that I am starting a four part segment that shows you my makeup collection. In my first post I ran through all my face products, which you can read here > make up collection part 1. Being me I am doing things a little out of order by showing you my nail varnish collection. Again, in the first blog I spoke about this post not being written to show off the things that I have, just simply sharing!

Being  a little cheap I store all my polishes in an old perfume box, I like the design and its a money saver – win win!

I’ve split my collection into colours, so lets dive in a start with the pinks/purples! Although you will be able to see from my collection that I tend to have mostly Essie nail varnishes, I do have a variety of other brands too!

 Pinks and Purples

Greens… and a clear

Blacks and Greys

Reds, Oranges and Golds

To add a little fun, especially if you’re not particularly talented with nail design….

Essie Jamaica me crazy – looks stunning on a hot summer holiday!

Essie Bikini so Teeny – Stunning spring colour, looks lovely with a white lace dress

Revlon Parfumerie Beachy – Perfect if you’re going for that bronzed look!

MaxFactor Fantasy Fire – Beautiful multi dimensional colour.

Goodbye January, Hello February | January Favourites

If you’re familiar with the youtube beauty world, then undoubtedly you’ll have watched atleast one favourites videos. For those who aren’t familiary, it’s a segment where bloggers will talk about the beauty products they’ve been loving for that month. I’ll be telling you the products I’ve been reaching for frequently throughout the weeks. Now, January seems to have passed rather quickly for me, being really busy at work and not getting to be able to try a lot of new products. I will give a quick review of each product, but if you would like a full review just comment below.

Lets get started…

The Original Beauty Blender

Price: £19.00

This has been a cult classic for a while now… and rightly so! This sponge is amazing, you can use it for both your concealer or applying your entire foundation. Dampen the sponge to bring to life its blending abilities and you won’t be disappointed. It does take a little longer, in my opinion, than using a brush when applying foundation and you do have to make sure you blend effectively. If you can spend that extra time perfecting the blend of your foundation, then using the sponge is the way to go. I buy my online from Amazon and always buy the duo pack. Some people have mentioned they are a little dubious because of the price and sanitary aspects, however the beauty blender is well worth every penny! I’ve personally bought about 6 so that shows you something. If you are unsure how to clean your beauty blender, or any sponges you own – let me know and I can make a tutorial for you.

Sigma F80 Kabuki Brush

Price: £16.00

This is the first Sigma brush I have purchased, and boy am I pleased! I haven’t used it for long and yet it still makes it into my favourites of January. I cannot express how soft this brush is, and how beautifully it apply any foundation I have. No matter if the foundation is matte, dewy, full or low coverage… it still applies like a dream. I use this brush to apply my foundation and then blend my concealer with the beauty blender and I am really pleased with the flawless results it gives.

Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Scrub

Price: £8.00

I love myself a body scrub and I love myself a Soap & Glory product. Combine these two loves together and you’re always going to get a winner in my books. This is a fresh, zesty smell perfect for the morning time. The scent and act of scrubbing down your body really awakens you. Its a physical scrub, meaning that there are sugars and ‘bits’ that actually scrub away at your dead skin. The ‘bits’ are coated in a creamy gel and oil that will nourish your skin after it has been rubbed. You can find this product in boots where they sell the rest of the sugar crush range.

Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Shine Deep Treatment

Price: £4.99

I am constantly battling frizzy, knotted hair. The 3 minute miracle treatment has really helped de-tangle those knots and give it an extra shine. I don’t really have a hair style at the moment if I am honest, its just very long and brown… nothing exciting! I am actually going through a transitional phase, where I would like a change but I am not sure what to do. Instead of acting upon this, I am just stuck in a rut! I will wash my hair at night, condition it with the aussie product and then leave it to dry naturally. I have always loved Aussie conditioners, but this one is my favourite. It really delivers on its name, and the smell is unbelievable.

Naissance Almond Sweet Oil

Price: £2.99

I have already blogged about the wonders of this product, so I won’t continue to rave about it too much. I will say however, that I have been using this as a cleanser and moisturiser for night time and having been completely shocked by the results. Check out this blog to read more about the oil.

Makeup Revolution Flawless Palette

Price: £8.00

Again, I have already blogged briefly about this product and a full review and a couple of tutorials will be posted soon. So I will only go on to say that I have been reaching for this product ever since I got my hands on it. I have the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette but have been skipping over this to use this, it is great to create unique natural eye looks perfect for work. To review the brief review, click here.

No7 Beautifully Matte Foundation

Price: £13.50

I only tend to wear matte foundations in the summer and spring time to combat my oily-ness. However I have been really loving this foundation for the past couple of weeks, it has been a constant in my collection for a couple of years now. It isn’t too expensive, provides buildable coverage and lasts all day. No7 isn’t a brand I would normally gravitate towards, but this foundation is definitely worth a try and it also provides sun protection with SPF 15. I am not an expert on No7 but I believe it is a Boots makeup line, so check it out here. This is also the foundation I wore in my ‘Fresh Makeup’ blog.

That is it for my January favourites this month, I apologise that I haven’t been able to look into uncharted territory but I promise I will be doing a lot more reviews for February. So, if there are any products that you would like me to test out, leave a comment and I will get round to it.

The Enhancer | Urban Decay B6 Spray

Yesterday I posted about the miracles of sweet almond oil and the wonders it has done for my skin. The oil is fantastic but on the days where I want to go that extra mile or my skin needs to be refreshed I reach for my B6 spray by Urban Decay. I first saw this product used by Sona Gasparian on Teni Panosian whilst doing a bridal make up look. It looked fantastic and I instantly knew I needed to get my hands on it. I rushed over to my nearest Urban Decay counter which happened to be in Debenhams and paid the quite steep £22 to make that baby mine!

On the bottle the directions read that you should apply the product before even moisturiser, but in Sona’s video you see her apply if after foundation and concealer. She uses it to fuse the products together and melt them into Teni’s skin. The results of which looked flawless… the very thing that got me hooked. I’ve experimented with using the spray both ways and using it twice. The mist is super fine and sometimes I feel like I have to spray it quite alot in order to cover my face effectively but it does have an instant improvement factor. I have found that this product is best used with the HD forever foundation and a damp beauty blender, but if you don’t have either it will still improve the look of your foundation. Dont worry, you can use this product both in the summer and winter with the same results.

If my skin is looking a little dull then I’ll spray this before moisturiser to give it a head start. The spray claims to reduce redness, absorb oil and decrease pore size. If they’re the results you’re after than definitely spray it before applying your make up, however if you’re looking to enhance your glow and really make your foundation look flawless, do it after. Of course, if you’re like me and want both then spray it before and after. This spray is also good if your skin is looking a little cakey or patchy through dryness then a few sprits of this will mend that straight away.

I wouldn’t go as far as saying its a miracle product like the almond oil, however it does make a difference. I am sure there are better sprays out there so I will be on the look out for them and I’ll keep you updated. However, for now I am happy to keep using this spray until it finishes. Will I repurchase, I am not sure. Its £22, which for me is quite pricey and is a product I think I could live without.

  • Can be used to blend foundation and concealer creating a more natural, flawless look.
  • Reduces redness
  • Minimises pores
  • Prevents oil production
  • Spray form – easy to use
  • Compact Bottle
  • Quite a lot of product – has lasted me a long time
  • Refreshes Skin – can be used half way through the day.

  • Initially quite expensive
  • Such a fine mist, do have to spray a lot!
  • Not keen on the smell (however this doesn’t linger)

Overall the product is worth the money, it just seems expensive at first. I give this product 8/10.

Its Pamper Sunday: Shave away those hairs!

Being a 9-5 girl (actually I work 8-5) Monday to Friday, I do most of my lengthy beauty treatments and maintenance on a Sunday. It relaxes me, preps me and makes me feel ready to take on the week. Doing something as little as a ten minute face mask or painting your nails can really make you feel special and its something I really recommend if you’re in for a challenging week ahead.

I normally shave twice a week, but being a little busy lately I have neglected my pins and they’re looking really rather furry! Although it seems to be keeping me warmer and I am wearing tights lately, it’s always nice to know that your legs are fuzz free! I am going to share my shaving techniques that I use when I have a bit of extra time to spare.

Step 1. Prep!!!

Its winter, you haven’t shaved in a week (or two!!) and your sporting the natural look but you know its time to get the chainsaw on those hairs! If you’re anything like me and haven’t bothered moisturising because, well frankly you couldn’t be bothered, then your legs are going to be a bit dry as well as hairy! So, you’ll need to buff away your dead skin cells so that when you shave, its going to be cutting off those hairs and not that dead skin of yours. Not properly ex-foliating can mean that your razor won’t glide smoothly over your skin and you’ll leave hairs behind which you’ll need to go over and it can lead to razor burn. My tip, run yourself a nice hot bath, jump in and splash around for a while whilst the hairs on your legs get a little softer, opens your pores and then reach for your body scrub. I like to use Soap and Glory’s Sugar Crush (It smells great and is very effective).

‘A little dab will do you’… Just grab a 2p size amount and massage onto your legs.

Step 2. Prime!

Have you ever watched your Dad, Brother or Boyfriend shave? Have you noticed he will always use a shaving gel or cream? Why are they using one? Its because it gets them a closer shave and helps to prevent razor burn too! They’re are loads of shaving creams out there you can buy Or you can always steal your boyfriends but if you don’t have one to hand or can’t reach it from your bath then grab some conditioner! I like to use my Aussie 3 minute miracle, but it doesn’t really matter what one you use! I slap a handful on to both legs, wait a minute and then….

Step 3. Chop Chop Chop!

So you’ve prep’d, primed and now you’re ready for the chop! Use any razor you like, we’re all different so get one that’s to your budget and taste! I tend to opt for disposable razors myself, but get whatever you fancy! The Wilkinsons Sword Quattro  I use has four blades and surrounded by conditioning bars! Once I feel my legs are soft enough and ready to shave, I start from the bottom and work my way up, against the hairs! If you’ve prepared properly, it should feel like a smooth ride and your legs shouldn’t burn or itch either! After every swipe with your razor, rinse under the tap or in a bowl of water to clean it! Your razor won’t be effective with your legs hairs stuck in it, so clean that baby in order to get an super smooth shave.

I recommend shaving in the bath because, you’ve probably got a bit more time to spare and you’re also sitting down so you can get into a comfortable position too!

Once you think you’re done, give your legs a little dunk back in the bath and give them a stroke! Feel if there are in spots you’ve missed, if you have, go back over them with your razor!

Step 4. Take Care

Once you’re out of the bath and ready to slip into your PJ’s, don’t rub your towel over your legs abrasively. Take care of them, gently pat them dry and apply a moisturising cream or oil. I know its tempting to slap on your victoria secret’s creams because they smell like a dream, but those perfumes can irritate your legs! I recommend using Johnsons baby oil, its cheap, accessible and works wonders! Okay, it might not smell like ‘pure seduction’ but it does smell spa like to me! The fragrance isn’t offensive and you’ll thank me in the morning!

Go on, give it a go!

If you have any other tips, tricks or questions… leave me a comment!

Business Beauty on a Budget

Saving for mortgage means I am constantly looking out for beauty products that don’t break the bank or dip into my savings! My favourite shop to ‘hit up’ for cheaper products is Superdrug, they hold cheaper brands like MUA, Rimmel and Maybelline.

A newer range that instantly caught my eye when it came out was Revolution. If I’m honest, the first thing that grabbed my attention was the price, boasting similar prices to MUA and equally similar packaging I was eager to discover if I loved the brand as much as I love MUA. The first difference between revolution and MUA was the range of eye shadow palettes. Different shapes, sizes, colours and prices means that Revolution quickly outshone MUA with its range of choices.

Being a business girl who has to be ready in a flash and doesn’t want to scare my colleagues with bright purple eye shadow, I always opt for more neutral and safer shades. Perusing the stand I stumbled across the Flawless palette. 32 neutral shimmer and matte shades for £8 seemed like a bargain to me!

The packaging isn’t anything to gush over but doesn’t make you run for the hills either. It may not be inviting or eye catching but its simple, sleek and sophisticated. Yes, it is plastic and feels a little cheap but for the price its not the worst! Now, I don’t normally use the mirrors inside palettes but if you’re on the go after work, or just out and about and need to add a little drama then the mirror that spans the entire inside of the lid will please you. Another positive point is that it doesn’t come with tacky sponges or brushes that people never/shouldn’t use, ditching the extras means the packaging looks cleaner and doesn’t drive up the price either its a win- win!

I am a woman who likes to be organised, and that even boils down to my eye shadows being labelled. I am not a fan of brands that either skip labelling altogether or name them ‘shadow 483’, I will never remember that name and it just doesn’t excite me either. Red Night, Medal and Pure Chocolate are not only names that label its colour but suit it and some what reflect its attributes. There are some quirky names like Gold Digger, Almost There and Cheerless which add a bit of welcomed fun. The labels are printed on a plastic sheet that not only act as a labelling system but protective cover too!

Opening the palette I wasn’t disappointed! It isn’t just cluttered with a bunch of colours ranging from muddy brown’s to light cream’s but instead it gives you some choice. Now I won’t race ahead and say this palette will fulfil your every make up desire, but it will please you! On the left you can see that you have the standard every day, and how I like to say ‘work safe’ colours but stretching over to the right you have the colours that will create ‘the look’. Some gorgeous deep shimmer burnt oranges and fire reds with deep midnight blues. If this palette is as good as I think it will be then it could solve a lot of my issues. Some of the lighter colours like Paper and Soft Glow do swatch a little powdery however the deeper colours Night, Black Tie and Burgundy Nights swatch smoothly and intense with colour. It isn’t an even playing field with matte vs shimmer, the shimmery colours do dominate the palette so if you’re not a shimmery person perhaps this palette isn’t for you. It also seems that the darker the colours are the shimmery they are too.

I haven’t got around to testing out the standard of the colours yet but they look promising.

Its small enough to fit into my hand bag, compact enough to travel with yet has the variety that can create a realm of make up looks.

I can’t wait to get stuck into this palette and create some work appropriate looks and also some dramatic, show stopping looks.

Watch this space…

Palette found at Superdrug,

It can also be found on Make Up Revolutions website,
